Situation, Objectives & Challenges: Delta was introducing a new line of turkey decoys. The new decoys would be used in a setup different from traditional turkey hunting decoy strategies. The packaging needed to convey three different price points for the various turkey decoys, and the differences in product features and benefits among the three price points, while also explaining the hunting strategy behind the new decoy line. The product would have strong competition at retail, so the message would have to convey the uniqueness and added value of this particular line. The packaging would also need to cross-promote the full line of turkey decoys to be used in the new strategy.
Solution, Technology & Execution: Gray Loon created a packaging design with images and text explaining the role of each of the decoys in the grouping. Bulleted text lists features and benefits in a way that makes it easy for consumers to understand each product’s value compared to the competition, as well as the differences among the price points. Packaging design elements such as color, texture, font, and style further reinforce the price point differences. For cross-promotion, the packaging for each individual decoy also includes pictures and text with recommendations for what other decoys should be used with the decoy inside the box for maximum hunting success.
